Nearly every potential customer we meet tells us about the mystic art required to manufacture and support their complex military electronics, especially those that are deployed in demanding operational environments and remain in service for decades. At Curtiss-Wright, we turn this mystic art into manufacturing science, drawing upon our decades of technical experience and our dedicated team approach. Our ability to effectively manage both the art and science of production has made us the choice of many high-profile military programs, including the Abrams Tank, the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, and the Black Hawk and Apache helicopters.
More than just Manufacturing

Our manufacturing facility in Littleton, MA offers a program managed, contract manufacturing service focused exclusively on the Defense and Aerospace market, providing mechanical, user interface subsystems; cable harnesses of any wire gage and count; circuit card assemblies for both current and legacy technology
CCAs, and power supplies and power distribution control systems. However, manufacturing of military electronics and electrical systems and light mechanical components is just one facet of the complete package we offer to our customers. In addition to our manufacturing capability, we also:
- Maintain complete thru-hole capability for legacy Build To Print
- Actively engage in total lifecycle support so there are no surprises
- Manage Technical Data packages to assure they stay up to date with current components and specifications
- Maintain configuration control so that systems continue to operate together
- Inventory End of Life components to mitigate obsolescence
- Conduct ongoing, process management assurance testing, such as pre and post process pull testing for crimp tooling and set up verification
- Perform in-process testing such as Automated Optical Inspection and junction and pin verification
We understand that manufacturing for military platforms involves much more than complex assembly.
Working Together to Achieve Results
With Curtiss-Wright as your manufacturing partner, you can be confident that, together, we’ll effectively satisfy your unique program requirements while minimizing your manufacturing risk. We maintain the expertise to meet the demanding requirements of Defense and Aerospace manufacturing, leveraging the strength of the entire Curtiss-Wright organization. Unlike many other electronics manufacturing companies, our organization is solely focused on the Defense and Aerospace market and has obtained the certifications and approvals that matter most to our customers.
We maintain a team of Certified Program Managers, one of whom is appointed to act as the single point of contact for all issues relating to each customer’s package of work. The Program Manager is mandated to resolve every issue as it arises and to deliver a quality, on-time product. We encourage our customers to integrate each of our Program Managers into their team, working with them to meet the customer’s targets and objectives.
We also understand the challenges of working with government contracts, and will monitor the funding flow so that we can understand and respond to our customers’ needs. We maintain a very flexible, job shop approach to manufacturing allowing:
- Fast reaction to procurement surges
- Low volume, high mix production capability
- Fill-in production capacity alongside volume production runs
- Rapid, initial product production
It’s almost like having ESP
As a government contractor, Curtiss-Wright’s Littleton Operations understands that rapid changes can take place to procurement programs brought about by changes in government funding priorities. We monitor the funding flow so that we can understand and respond to our customers’ needs. We maintain a very flexible, job shop approach to manufacturing allowing:
- Fast reaction to procurement surges
- Low volume, high mix production capability
- Fill-in production capacity alongside volume production runs
- Rapid, initial product production
Exploring the Unknown through Testing
Our Engineers work closely with our customers to ensure manufacturability and testability of every item we produce. We make a point of understanding how our customers' designs work and often provide on-site assistance during integration or early field testing to ensure that designs, as manufactured, work as intended.
In-house Test Engineering designs and manufactures the required test equipment, ensuring that it remains available for the deployed life of the delivered items. Environmental Chambers allow for testing at temperature extremes and thermal cycling. ESS facilities, including Vibration, ensure the product's overall manufacturing integrity before release to our customers.
Through-life Support Is No Mystery
Our business is built on our commitment to support each customer for the life of their programs and the products that we manufacture for them. This extends to maintaining the manufacturing machinery and the production skill set, managing the obsolescence of components and maintaining the test equipment in order to ensure that the products we continue to manufacture work as originally intended.
Repair and Maintenance
After manufacture and deployment we maintain the expertise and test capability necessary to undertake through-life repairs and maintenance of every assembly and subsystem that we manufacture.
Component Management
Obsolescence issues occur on any long running production program. We are proactive in our approach to obsolescence. We willingly propose, develop and qualify the best solutions without supply interruption:
- Select and source alternative components
- Propose and develop alternative designs
- Test and verify modifications
- Manage End of Life inventory
Refurbishment and Upgrade
Because our customers’ products operate in extremely harsh environments, we engage in regular refurbishment and remanufacture programs with our customers. We also provide regular improvement and upgrade programs to maintain the leading edge capability of fielded platforms using the equipment we manufacture.
Design Authority
We provide design services for our customers who do not have the capacity to complete a concept:
- Turn specifications or schematics into products
- Complete packaging design
- Upgrade concepts into new production items
- Rapid new product development and prototyping
Technology Insertion
We have the capability to take over the responsibility for the future maintenance of design and manufacturing packages with our unique blend of experience and manufacturing skills:
- Solve the magic that is unique to the product production process
- Update Technical Data Packages
- Maintain older low volume designs
- Extend the life of existing designs with new technologies
