Letchworth Garden City, UK – June 1, 2009 -- Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing, a leading designer and manufacturer of rugged deployed commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) VME, VPX and CompactPCI products for the aerospace and defense market, has announced the Sentric2 family of rugged COTS video recording and playback systems that support multiple channels of high-definition video and leading edge JPEG2000 and MPEG4 compression. Sentric2 enables simple and cost-effective high-resolution video capture and real-time video compression to be added to deployable systems. Support for metadata further extends Sentric2 capabilities, enabling the integration of GPS data, timing data, and the creation of event tags for use as chapter points for navigation within captured and compressed video.
“Sentric2 delivers the high-definition video capability and performance demanded by a growing number of defense and aerospace applications,” said Lynn Patterson, vice president and general manager of Modular Solutions, Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing. “While Sentric2 is able to satisfy most applications with an off-the-shelf configuration, its flexible and scalable architecture enables customers to quickly tailor cost-effective solutions for their particular needs, speeding their time to market.”
Sentric2 supports video capture from analog and digital sources at resolutions that exceed full-HD 1080p at 60Hz. It compresses captured video in real-time at full-frame rate, using state-of-the-art hardware acceleration. Sentric2 records from networked sources and playback options include serving video over Ethernet.
Available off-the-shelf in both air-cooled and conduction-cooled configurations, Sentric2 is ideal for demanding military video applications in a wide range of platforms including ground-based vehicles and command centers, UAVs, helicopters and combat aircraft.
