The PowerMatrix-4x16 DSP system is one of the offerings in the PowerMatrix family of fully integrated open achitecture systems. The PowerMatrix-4x16 provides developers with an application-software ready multi-processor system with easily customizable I/O.
Based on four quad DSP PowerPC boards, the PowerMatrix-4x16 system is ideally suited for applications that require a high level of CPU processing and high memory bandwidth.
When tasks such as RADAR processing are handed to the cluster of PowerPC 7448 processors with their Altivec units and 256 MB of private memory, they make short order of the work. As each node on a board is completed with its portion of the work, it can send it to another node on the same board using the 3.2 GB/sec peak on-board QuadFlow architecture.
When the processing is complete on one board, the high speed StarFabric interconnect fabric can move the data at 400 MB/sec from one board to another across the fabric with has a bisectional bandwidth of 800 MB/sec.
With five open PMC sites and four open VME slots the PowerMatrix-4x16 system can be configured with many standard I/O options including Serial FPDP, Fibre Channel, MIL-STD-1553 and high-speed A/D channels. These user definable options, combined with the standard Gigabit Ethernet, Serial I/O and SATA, allow the PowerMatrix-4x16 to receive raw data and transmit results to other parts of the system in fast and flexible ways.
Curtiss-Wright offers off-the-shelf standard configurations of PowerMatrix systems, designed to fit various tiers of application. PowerMatrix systems are highly modular and may be customized for particular processing and I/O needs.
