PowerMatrix 48 DSP System

The PowerMatrix-48 DSP is one of the offerings in the PowerMatrix family of fully integrated open-architecture Systems. PowerMatrix-48 provides developers with an application-software ready multi-processor system with easily customizable I/O. Based on twelve quad PowerPC DSP boards, the PowerMatrix-48 is ideally suited for applications that require a high level of CPU processing and high memory bandwidth.

When tasks such as RADAR processing are handed to the cluster of PowerPC 7448 processors with their Altivec units and 256 MB of private memory, they make short order of the work. As each node on a board completes its portion of the work, it can send the results to another node on the same board using the 3.2 GB/sec peak on-board QuadFlow architecture.

When the processing is complete on one board, the high speed StarFabric interconnect fabric can move the data at 400 MB/sec from one board to another with a bisectional bandwidth of 2.4 GB/sec. With twelve open PMC sites, and three open VME slots the PowerMatrix-48 can be configured with many standard I/O options including Serial FPDP, Fibre Channel, MIL-STD-1553 and high-speed A/D channels. These user definable options, combined with standard
Gigabit Ethernet and Serial I/O, allow the PowerMatrix-48 to receive raw data and transmit results to other parts of the system in fast and flexible ways.

Curtiss-Wright offers off-the-shelf standard configurations of PowerMatrix systems, designed to fit various tiers of application compexity. PowerMatrix systems are highly modular and may be customized for particular processing and I/O needs.
