SDRxL Streaming Data Recorder

The Vortex SDRxL is a turn-key sFPDP streaming data recorder system consisting of a uniquely equipped 3U controller combined with a reliable, scalable storage subsystem. Up to four sFPDP signals can be recorded simultaneously. For demanding sFPDP sensor-to-processor streaming data applications, the Vortex SDRxL has everything you require.

Features

  • 4 channels of sFPDP data recorded
  • 960MB/s of total input data recording (4 channels x 240MB/s)
  • Supports both 2.5 and 1.0Gb/s sFPDP
  • Optical input via 850nm SFP transceivers with LC connectors
  • Scalable storage with SBOD or RAID
  • 4 channels of sFPDP data playback
  • Data Retrieval via out-of-band Ethernet control port (standard)
  • Data Retrieval via Fibre Channel (optional kit)
  • Graphical User Interface (GUI)
  • Timestamp of each data frame

Unique Data Capture & Timestamp
Only the Vortex family has the unique RapidReplay™ hardware system. This hardware allows the SDRxL to capture incoming sFPDP data frames and to timestamp each frame at full sFPDP line rate. With extremely accurate timestamping prior to storage, your data can later be played back via the sFPDP channels just like it was recorded. RapidReplay time-stamping also gives you the accuracy needed for detailed post-analysis of your valuable data.

Vortex Storage Options
Time-stamped data is transferred via FC to an external Vortex 3U SBOD. With sixteen 600GB FC disks, one SBOD provides 9.6TB of storage!  If you have four channels of 240MB/s sFPDP data (as in the SDR4L system), nearly 2 hours of recording time is possible. If you need more record time, then add another SBOD.   If your application requires the additional reliability of a RAID, then pick from two storage options. The Vortex 2U RAID is compact and houses 12 SATA or SAS disks. The Vortex 4U RAID is larger and offers extreme storage with 48 SATA or SAS disks. If your application requires rugged storage, then use the Vortex SANbric system. It provides a unique system with rotating FC disks for the tough environments at a price less than solid state disks.

Vortex Software
The Vortex Graphical User Interface (GUI) offers a very simple method of controlling the SDRxL recorder. After setting a few parameters, a record session is started by pressing the Record button. Playback control is just as easy.
