CHAMP-AV5 Quad-core
- for more information click here
The CHAMP-AV5 provides 64 GFLOPs of processing and FPGA-based algorithm acceleration for signal processing applications. Based on a pair of 2GHz dual-core 1682 processors from P.A. Semi, the CHAMP-AV5 doubles the performance of the previous generation while operating at similar or lower power levels.
The AV5 provides high memory and inter-processor bandwidth to complement the processors, each is equipped with two banks of DDR2 SDRAM with a peak bandwidth over 8GB/s. The CHAMP-AV5 QuadFlow Express architecture provides each processor with an 8-lane, 4GB/s PCI Express connection. Two PMC/XMC sites are available, served with 4-lane 2GB/s PCIe connections.
Signal processing algorithms can be greatly accelerated with the AV5’s optional user-programmable Xilinx Virtex-5 FPGA. Featuring local high-speed QDR SRAM, the Virtex-5 communicates with the processors and XMCs with a 4GB/s PCIe connection.
Software Development for the CHAMP-AV5
The CHAMP-AV5 is supported with the Continuum suite of software development tools including board support packages, communications middleware, DSP libraries and multi-processor instrumentation and analysis tools.
Supporting VxWorks 6.5 and future releases, the CHAMP-AV5 BSP provides a complete set of functions to control the AV5 hardware features. Employing the Continuum Software Architecture standard, the BSP has common and portable APIs with all the latest generation Curtiss-Wright products.
The Continuum IPC communications middleware provides applications with hardware abstraction, allowing all task-to-task communications to have a consistent interface, removing dependencies on operating system, local architectures, and interconnect technology.
The Continuum Vector signal processing library provides a comprehensive set of DSP functions optimized for the 1682 VMX floating point vector processor. The Continuum Insights visualization and instrumentation tools improve software development efficiency with system management and multi-processor real-time analysis.
The Continuum Insights visualization and instrumentation tools improve software development efficiency with system management and multi-processor real-time analysis.
The Continuum FXtools design kit provides highly optimized IP blocks for the Xilinx Virtex-5 and includes a SystemVerilog (IEEE 1800™) based simulation test bench with full bus functional models and scripting support.
