The SVME-E2109 series is based round two system timing controllers (STC's-AMD9513 equivalent) providing the user with 10 general purpose 16-bit timer/counters. Each counter is fully programmable to count UP or DOWN, in either BCD or Binary, from a user defined start value and to select its input from one of a range of sources. The contents of each counter may be read and stored at any time without disturbing the counting process.
The SVME-E2109 series is suited for complex waveform and frequency generation. Quadra ture detector circuits associated with each STC accept SIN, COS and INDEX outputs from measurement devices such as optical shaft encounters to produce “Clockwise” and “Counter Clockwise” pulses. These may in turn be applied to one of the STC counters to determine the current position of the transducer. Up to 4 transducers may be connected to a single SVME-E2109.
