The PGR8 eight-port Gigabit Ethernet Switch PMC is part of a family of Gigabit Ethernet switching products from Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing that extends from products with embedded switching (i.e. CHAMP-AV IV) to large port-count, managed switches including the VME-680 SwitchBlade.
The PGR8 is an 8-port Gigabit Ethernet switch packaged in the industry-standard PMC form factor. It provides unmanaged Layer-2 switching capabilities and is typically used for "in-chassis" networking. The PGR8 connects to the PCI bus for power only. It has no effect on the operation of the host PCI bus. No software driver is needed. The PGR8 is designed for rugged applications with backplane I/O and is offered in a full range of ruggedized air-cooled and conduction-cooled versions.
