RT4000 Port Card - Multi-protocol/Multi-rate (Up to 4.25Gbps) RT10000 Port Card - 10 Gig Ethernet & Fibre Channel ET1000 Port Card - 10/100/1000 Ethernet NRT2500 Port Card - Multi-protocol/Multi-rate (Up to 2.5Gbps) FW1600 Port Card - Firewire (IEEE1394B)
The modular design* of the GLX4000 port cards gives customers unmatched flexibility supporting a wide range of serial protocols. All the GLX4000 port card are designed to fit both the GLX4000 144-port and 288-port switches. This adaptive design allows unique scalability so port cards can easily be added as your application grows. With the highest port density in the industry, the GLX4000 port cards save valuable rack space. High port density also means purchasing fewer spares and spending less time on inventory management. All of the GLX4000 port cards are hot-swappable. This allows one engineer to add a port card for a new application while other engineers are still using the existing port cards. Hot-swapping saves down time and money.
Digital Diagnostics are supported by both the RT4000 (SFP) and RT10000 (XFP) port cards. This real-time information includes transceiver vendor name, transceiver type, speed range, protocol setting, transceiver temperature, transmit & receive optical power, and transceiver supply voltage. Networks Administrators can use this information to schedule transceiver replacement before problems can occur. All port cards report temperature in two locations. Temperatures are also logged for later analysis. All the information can be accessed through the easy-to-use GUI or full-featured CLI.
A unique feature of the GLX4000 port cards is signal detect. A counter is maintained for each port that records signal loss. Signal detect count is very helpful when troubleshooting a system or lab. If the count is continuing to increase, this would indicate a problem that must be resolved. The problem can be isolated to that port. It may prove to be a loose, intermittent fiber cable or a faulty host bus adapter. Troubleshooting a system and resolving the problem quickly will save time and make a lab more productive!

FW1600 Port Card Firewire (IEEE1394B)
The FW1600 port card supports a full range of Firewire data speeds from 400Mb/s to 1600Mb/s. Each port card can accept 48 Firewire cables (9-pin). Supports Firewire speed negotiation per the IEEE standard.
Why the FW1600 Works! The port card receiver has a signal detect circuit with hysteresis. The detector is biased to turn on for incoming signals greater than 160 mV nominal, and off for incoming signals less than 120 mV nominal. When a signal is not detected, the receiver output is forced to a logical zero. The response time of the signal detector is about 0.5 microseconds, nearly negligible in comparison to the 100-microsecond maximum signal detect response time specified for 1394b receivers.
The signal path from the port card receiver through the crosspoint switch the port card transmitter is DC-coupled and can pass a steady logical zero indefinitely.
The switched signal directly drives the port card's two-state differential transmitter. The transmit driver is AC-coupled to the cable, so the differential output voltage goes to zero when the is static. An auxiliary circuit puts a balanced charge onto the AC coupling capacitors so there is no unbalanced transient when the signal becomes active again.
