The VPX6-1952 is one of a family of modules from Curtiss-Wright to employ the new open-architecture VITA 46 standard. VITA 46, also known as “VPX” was collaboratively developed by COTS industry leaders which included prime military integrators to provide hardware that supports high-speed interconnects such as SERDES Gigabit Ethernet ports. This form factor is designed to support the rigorous demands of Military and Aerospace applications. The VPX6-1952 provides Single Board Computer (SBC) functionality to the Curtiss-Wright VPX family that includes quad-processor DSP, FPGA accelerator and XMC/PMC carrier modules.
The VPX6-1952 is based on the latest technology Intel Core2 Penryn processor. Available with two cores running at 2.5 GHz & providing up to 8GB of high-bandwidth DDR3 SDRAM, the 1952 provides high-performance processing and ample memory to handle requirements of future combat systems. The 1952 is also equipped with a rich compliment of features and I/O including Intel Graphics, Intel Trusted Execution Technology (TxT), Integrated Platform Management Interfaces (IPMI), SERDES Ethernet, GPIO, Serial channels, USB ports, an XMC site and more.
Available in both air-cooled and conduction-cooled environmental build grades, the 1952 is targeted toward the challenging data-processing needs of tactical aircraft, armored vehicles and harsh environment naval systems. For retrofit and technology insertion applications, the 1952 offers a superset of the I/O features of earlier generations of Curtiss-Wright VME SBCs. As a member of Curtiss-Wright’s continuously evolving stream of Intel SBCs including the SVME/DMV-1901 and SCP/DCP-1201, the 1952 supports the life-cycle model of successive technology insertions throughout a platform’s lifetime.
The VPX6-1952 will occupy a standard 0.85” slot and may be used for upgrading existing VME systems in the same footprint. The VPX6-1952 is also available in the VITA 48 (VPX REDI) format with covers to support two level maintenance LRM requirements.
